Oil passes $US144 a barrel

Oil prices have reached another new high, surpassing $US144 a barrel overnight.

 
US crude hit $US144.15 a barrel in post settlement trade.
 

In London, Brent crude settled up even higher at $US144.26 a barrel, after earlier hitting $US144.76.
