Trucking Industry Award Winners

Australia's top truck drivers and industry representatives were awarded for their commitment and professionalism at the National Trucking Industry Awards.
 
The awards were part of the Australian Trucking Convention, which was held in Canberra.

The ceremony saw the Australian Trucking Association (ATA) announce the National Professional Driver of the Year, the National Trucking Industry Woman of the Year, the National Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Australian Trucking Industry and the Training Excellence Award.

 
The 2008 National Trucking Industry Award Winners Are:
National Professional Driver of the Year:
Kevin Cartwright, Whiteline Transport (Salisbury, SA)
National Trucking Industry Woman of the Year Award:
Helen Savage, Stockmaster (Westdale, NSW)
Outstanding Contribution to the Australian Trucking Industry:
John Kelly (Deceased)
Training Excellence Award:
WA Freight Group (Welshpool, WA)
 
Also awarded on the night was the Don Watson Memorial Award, which was presented to trucking industry stalwart and long standing supporter of the ATA, Peter Rocke.
 
The ATA Chairman, Trevor Martyn, said the quality of this year's winners was outstanding.
"Listening to the winners speak on the night provided a strong indication of why they won, they all have tremendous passion for our industry and an uncompromising commitment to its improvement," he said.

Mr Martyn also thanked award sponsors Cummins, DECA, PSA Media, South Pacific Tyres and ATA Foundation Sponsors BP, NTI and Volvo for offering a range of exciting prizes for the winner of each category.
